PSL will help both young and senior players- Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi is adamant that the upcoming Pakistan Super League could well turn out to be the turning point of careers for most of the young players as well as senior players in order to regain their lost form especially considering the fact the T20 world cup is also nearing, Afridi told a government news agency.
“This league can help our senior players regain form whereas youngsters will get an opportunity to interact with international cricketers of repute and learn from their skills,”

He added that Pakistan team’s performance has been below par in the past few series but he was confident that the men in green will rise once again. Pakistan lost the last two T20 series which is a worrying sign because we have a tough group in T20 World Cup which is scheduled to begin in March 2016.
“Our performance has not been up to the mark quite recently but no one can downplay the green-shirts as we have the potential to rise,” claimed Afridi.
“We have very talented players in our team but still they have to prove their talent by performing [well],”
As far as Sohaib Maqsood is concerned, who failed miserably on the tour of New Zealand, Shahid Afridi said that he was given adequate amount of chances but he failed to deliver.
“Sohaib believed that he could perform well up the batting order. He was given the chance but he has not delivered,”
He admitted that the new combinations did not display the expected results but that does not mean that we can not plan well for the WT20 because according to him there is still time left for the team to prepare efficiently.
“We tried out various options during the New Zealand series. It is true these options did not work for us but I believe we have learnt a lot. I think still we have the time and can plan for the World T20 in a better way,”
After the Pakistan Super League concludes, later in February, Pakistan’s next assignment is the Asia Cup which will be played in the T20 format so that the Asian sides can prepare accordingly for the T20 World Cup which will begin right after the Asia Cup.
