Salman Butt says “I’ll try to sustain my performance”
Karachi: Former test captain Salman Butt said I am glad to watch my excellent performance in both the matches, my previous experience has helped me and runs kept coming in. I’ll try to sustain this performance, my selection depends on the selectors.
In the national One-Day cricket tournament played against Karachi Whites, the Wapda batsman who played an undefeatable 99 innings spoke to the media in the National stadium Karachi and said “I am preparing myself for the upcoming competition and I am fully focused on improving my performance. I myself am also analyzing my batting and would try to overcome my deficiencies.
I am expecting good performance in the current event. Replying to a question Salman Butt said scoring 135 runs not out in the first match against Fata and playing a good innings in the following match has delighted me. Playing 50,50 overs in both the matches has generated confidence in me, I will try to maintain this form. Due to legal restrictions I did batting practice in non registered academies which helped me a lot, my job is to show performance while selection in the national team depends on the PCB and the selectors.
Regarding a question on Salman’s inclusion in the national team, T20 captain Shahid Afridi said for the time being it is difficult to include Salman’s name in the national team to which the former test captain replied he is a senior therefore I would not like to comment on his statement.
Fast bowler Muhammad Asif accused in spot fixing said It would be a great challenge for me to make a comeback in the national team. He said I am 100 percent fit. It’s the start of season and my performance of taking wickets will keep increasing as the season pulls along. He said I am practicing regularly . Replying to a question Asif said he’s encouraged after listening to positive statements issued by the national cricket team head coach Waqar Younus and chairman PCB. I will try and show better bowling performance like Muhammad Amir.
