The young wicketkeeper, Sam Billings has left Dubai and returned to England to perform his international duties. But, he has not overcome his obsession with the Pakistan Super League, he represented Islamabad United there. He coined his experience in the first edition of the PSL as cracking.
It was the first appearance of the Englishman in any franchise cricket and he thinks it could not have been any better than this. Sam Billings talked to ecb.co.uk, he said that the experience he gained from playing PSL will come handy in the upcoming World T20 in India.
Sam Billings told ecb.co.uk,” It was a completely different environment, a lot of Pakistani international cricketers playing in the side, so just to pick the brains of international players from different countries was fantastic,”
He further added, “There’s no better player than Brad Haddin to pick the brains of as a number-seven Test batsman and then up the order in T20, obviously as a keeper was invaluable,”
“I think any environment where you play against top-class cricketers is going to improve you as a cricketer as long as you have the right attitude and work ethic, I think it’s impossible not to improve.”
Sam Billings proved himself a teamman by saying that he doesn’t mind sitting in the dugout as far as his team is winning. The young keeper was replaced by the veteran Australian wicketkeeper, Brad Haddin in the Islamabad United’s side. Billings has got immense potential with the gloves behind the stumps and with the bat, he looks like a bright prospect for English cricket.
