Sanga leads Gemini Arabians to victory
The Masters Champions League began in a blistering fashion with the Gemini Arabians brushing aside the Libra Legends in comprehensive fashion by 78 runs.
The Libra Legends won the toss and chose to field first but that decision proved to be costly as the Gemini Arabians thrashed the bowling to all parts of the ground and to everyone’s surprise the very first ball of the match was hit for a six over square leg by Virender Sehwag. Kumar Sangakkara showed no signs of rustiness as he made 86 runs off 43 balls which included 6 fours and 7 sixes. Meanwhile opener Richard Levi scored 62 runs off 43 balls and not to forget a crucial 46 run knock from the 41 year old Brad Hodge. The Gemini Arabians made 234 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing this massive target the Libra Legends could only manage 156/8 in 20 overs with their top scorer being Ryan Ten Doeschate who amassed 53 runs. For the Gemini Arabians the Kyle Mills, Rana Naveed and the magician Muralitharan took 2 wickets each.
Kumar Sangakkara was declared man of the match for his brilliant batting display and for helping his team gain a commanding positive during the entire match.
On Friday two matches of MCL are scheduled to be played at Dubai. The first match Capricorn Commanders and Leo Lions while the second match will be played between Virgo Super Kings and Sagittarius Strikers.
