PCB has decided to send one selector as an observer with the Pakistan team touring England, however, the selector will not be a part of the tour selection committee and neither would he be allowed to travel with the team.
During the England tour the selector will be allowed to visit the dressing room. Last year during the World Cup the former chief selector, Moin Khan accompanied the team and was a part of the tour selection committee.
PCB sources say that the newly appointed chief selector, Inzamam ul Haq, has already made PCB agree on sending a selector to accompany the team, however his position will be of an observer who would closely observe the performance of new player and submit his separate report to the chief selector and PCB at the end of the tour.
Worldwide the selectors on foreign tours are also a part of the tour selection committee, however, the coach, captain and the manager will select the playing XI in England. The coach’s report and opinion will carry great importance in forming a new team.
Sources say that if the selector will travel in the team bus or visit increase to the dressing room, it might increase pressure on the players. The selector’s report after completion of England’s lengthy tour will carry lot of importance.
