Shahbaz senior inaugurates women hockey club in Lahore
Lahore: In Pakistan though the game of hockey is on a decline but efforts are always being made for its reveival. Former captain of women’s hockey team Sehrish Ghumman has opened a club in Lahore to promote hockey which was inaugurated by PHF secretary Shahbaz senior.
According to details nobody participated from the PHF women-wing side at the inaugural ceremony of former captain Sehrish Ghumman’s club except PHF secretary Shahbaz senior who was the chief guest at this occasion.
During the inaugural ceremony, the former renowned player Shahbaz senior gave full assurance to men and women players that they would be given full opportunity to participate in the international hockey tournaments. There were around 50 players who got themselves registered in the academy by the name of RAWHA club which is a proof of hockey’s popularity amongst the women.
A match was also arranged during the inauguration in which Pakistan Railway defeat RAHWA club 3-1. The club organizers and players in the end demanded to keep up and encourage the bright traditions of the past.
