Shahid Afridi completes 250 wickets in T20s
CHITTAGONG: Pakistan’s veteran allrounder, Shahid Afridi completed his 250 wickets in T20s in during a game of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) playing for Rangpur Riders against Khulna Tigers at Chittagong.
Shahid Afridi took two wickets in the contest to take his wicket tally to 251 in T20 games. Mahmudullah was his 250th wicket, he was caught by Afridi’s countryman, Anwar Ali when he was on 11 runs.
Rangpur Riders claimed the victory by 7 wickets as Shahid Afridi got the Man of the Match award for his allround performance. He took 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs. Moreover, he scored 26 runs off 20 deliveries with the help of two 4’s and a 6 that took his team over the line.
The man, who is known as Boom Boom in the cricket fraternity, has been impressive so far in the tournament, especially with the ball. He is currently the third highest wicket-taker in the event.
He has taken 11 wickets in the six matches he has played so far with an economy rate of just 5.43 runs per over. His best bowling figures are 4/12 in three overs in this edition of the BPL. However, he has been ordinary with the bat as he has scored 54 runs in 3 innings he has played.
Inzamam Ul Haq told Geo earlier that Shahid Afridi can be included in the T20 squad if he performs well.
“If Afridi puts in a good performance and the team requires him, he will certainly be selected for the national squad,” Inzamam said. “Age is not a factor, whether the team is in need of his skills is. Misbah is above 40 yet he is still playing for Pakistan so why can’t Afridi?” he added.
