Super-8 T20: Karachi eliminates Faisalabad, Lahore defeat Multan

FAISALABAD: Lahore Lions beat Multan Tigers by 15 runs while Karachi Dolphins defeated Faisalabad Wolves by six wickets to eliminate the home side from the Super-8 Twenty20 competition on Saturday, reports.

Karachi Dolphins will take on Sialkot Stallions in the first semi final of Super-8 T20 while Lahore Lions will face off against Rawalpindi Rams. in the second semi final of the tournament.

The winner of the semis will play each other in the final on Monday.

The semi finals will be played at 05:00 pm and 09:00 pm.

Lahore Lions won the toss and opted to take guard first.

The Lahore side managed 180/3 with Umar Akmal being the top scorer with an unbeaten knock of 95 runs which included 11 fours and four sixes. Nasir Jamshed made 33 runs and captain Kamran Akmal contributed 28 runs.

Sudaif Mehdi, Zulfiqar Babar and Naved Yasin all took three wickets for Multan.

In reply, the tigers scored 165/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Naved Yasin made 68 runs while captain Gulraiz Sadaf made 33 runs and Kashif Mansha scored 26 runs.

Aizaz Cheema took three wickets for Lahore while Mustafa Iqbal and Mohammad Hafeez shared one wicket each.

Umar Akmal was named the Man of the Match for his exuberant performance.

Faisalabad Wolves, opting to take guard against the dolphins, scored 144 runs in their 20 overs. Jahandad Khan made 54 runs whereas captain Misbah-ul-Haq made 30 runs for his side. Asif Ali scored 22 runs for the team.

Dolphins’ pacer Mohammad Sami took three wickets while Anwar Ali, Fawad Khan and Faraz Ahmed took two wickets each.

The Karachi side, chasing the target of 145 runs, made 147/4 in 17.5 overs with Shahzaib Hasan scoring 59 runs and Rameez Raja Jr. contributing 25 runs for the team. Mohammad Waqas and Asad Shafiq made 22 and 17 runs respectively.

Sadaqat Ali took two wickets for the hosts while Saeed Ajmal and Samiullah Khan took one wicket each as well.

Shahzaib Hasan was awarded the Man of the Match award.
