Super-8 T20: Sialkot faces Lahore in final

FAISALABAD: Sialkot Stallions will take on Lahore Lions in the final of the Super-8 T20 as the two sides won their respective semi finals on Sunday, reports.

Sialkot Stallions defeated Karachi Dolphins by 65 runs in the first semi final of the competition.

The stallions, invited to bat first by dolphins, scored 167 in 19.4 overs with Nauman Anwar top scoring with 80 runs while Mukhtar Ahmed and Bilal Asif scoring 25 runs each. Captain Shoaib Malik made 22 runs for his side.

Abdul Ameer and Faraz Ahmed took three wickets each for Karachi whereas Fawad Khan and Mohammad Sami took two and one wicket each.

In reply, Karachi could only manage 102 on the board as the side were back in the pavilion in 17 overs. Mohammad Waqas scored 29 runs while Rameez Raja Jr. made 24 runs while Shahzaib Hasan contributed 20 runs for the team.

Sialkot’s Usama Mir and Bilal Asif took three wickets each while Ali Khan  grabbed two wickets. Sultan Ahmed and Bilawal Bhatti also got one wicket as well.

Nauman Anwar was named Man of the Match.

The second semi final was contested between Lahore Lions and Rawalpindi Rams which Lions won by four wickets.

Rams, electing to take guard first, made just 100/8 in their 20 overs. Tayyab Riaz made 22 runs while Mohammad Nawaz scored 18 runs. Hammad Azam and Sohail Tanvir each made 12 runs while Jamal Anwar made 10 runs for his team.

Lions’ bowlers Aizaz Cheema and Mustafa Iqbal took two wickets which Qaiser Ashraf and Mohammad Hafeez also got one wicket as well.

Lahore Lions, reached the target of 101 runs, won the match by four wickets to spare as the made 105/6 in 19.1 overs.

Ahmed Shehzad scored 58 runs and Nasir Jamshed made 26 runs.

Samiullah and Hammad Azam took two wickets for Rawalpindi while Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Amir grabbed one wicket each.

Man of the Match award went to Ahmed Shehzad.

The final will be played at 07:00 pm. local time.
