Tomorrow is the most awaited day for PSL fans; Quetta Gladiators is going to take on Islamabad United in the final. Quetta has been impressive throughout the tournament, whereas, Islamabad United has made a strong comeback after being down and out in their first two games of their campaign.
Islamabad won only three matches at the group stage, whereas, Quetta Gladiators lost just two of their games at the initial level of the tournament. Sarfaraz’s men has got the better of Misbah & Co. in the tournament, the two times they faced off each other, Quetta convincingly defeated Islamabad at both the occasions. Keeping track record of both the sides so far in the tournament, Quetta Gladiators look a heavier side between the two.
Islamabad United will carry momentum in the final; they have dominated in three consecutive matches against Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi. Islamabad is looking a totally different and a revamped side. Andre Russell has become the second highest wicket-taker of the PSL and Sharjeel Khan went all guns blazing against Peshawar, he has become the first centurian and the second highest scorer of the tournament.
Although, Quetta Gladiators has got the better of all the teams involved in this mega event, but, it has been seen that once their top order fails, specially Kevin Pieterson and Kumara Sangakkara, the middle and lower order finds it tough to score. The veteran duo of Sanga and KP will surely be the key for Gladiators’ success. Local heroes in Quetta’s team, Ahmed Shahzad and Sarfaraz Ahmed have not done anything much significant in the tournament, but, they have to step up on the big occasion of final.
The final contest of the first edition of the PSL is expected to be a nail biter. It will be an interesting matchup between Misbah’s coolness and Sharfaraz’s restlessness. Najam Sethi has announced a full house in the big final, despite of the fact that it’s a working day. It has been a classic campaign so far and a thrilling final game will be an icing on the cake for PSL.
