The Kings triumphant in their first match
The eagerly anticipated second match of the Pakistan Super League between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars kicked off in style with the Lahore side batting first after losing the toss. The explosive Chris Gayle opened the batting along with his captain Azhar Ali.
Shoaib Malik struck gold as he removed Chris Gayle in the very first over for 6 runs and put the Kings ahead from the very beginning. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed the captain of Lahore Qalandars Azhar Ali for 18 runs and hence ensured that the kings remained on top. Although Cameron Delport and Sohaib Maqsood along with Mohammad Rizwan did try to lay a platform for their side but it was evident that they were lacking momentum courtesy tight bowling from the Karachi Kings spinners and especially Shoaib Malik and Shakib Al Hasan.
Although the match had a low key beginning but the best was yet to come. In the 19th over of the match fast bowler Mohammad Amir took the first ever hattrick of Pakistan Super League when he removed Dwayne Bravo, Zohaib Khan and Kevon Cooper of consecutive deliveries.
The Lahore Qalandars concluded on 125/8 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer with 37 runs off 31 balls.
Ooh aah Amir!

The Karachi Kings began their chase in peculiar fashion as they lost their first two wickets with just 4 runs on the board. The Lahore Qalandars were on top at this stage and had Bravo safely caught the catch of Shakib Al Hasan the Kings would have been in all sorts of trouble. James Vince was hard done when the umpire gave him out LBW when it was clear that there was an inside edge.
A terrific partnership between Lendl Simmons and Shakib Al Hasan led the charge for the Karachi Kings and ensured that the team faced no worries whatsoever during their run chase. Shakib Al Hasan played a magnificent innings of 51 runs while Lendl Simmons remained not out on 62 runs. Karachi Kings won the match in convincing fashion by 7 wickets and with 25 balls to spare.
Shakib Al Hasan was declared man of the match for his brilliant innings during a difficult phase and tight bowling in the first half of the match.
The Karachi Kings play their next match of the tournament tomorrow against the Quetta Gladiators.
