Bangladeshi fans were ecstatic as Mushfiqur Rahim smacked two boundaries in a row to bring his side on the brink of a famous win against India. Needing just two runs off the last three balls nobody would have imagined that Bangladesh would ruin everything in a jiffy.
In an amazing turn of events India picked up three wickets on the last three balls of the innings to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets on the 4th and 5th ball of the over respectively meanwhile Dhoni inflicted a run out on the final ball of the innings. On the lighter side ,although, South Africa are known for choking when it matters most but Bangladesh would even made them proud through their performance last night.
It was a must win game for both sides and India managed to hang on and stay alive in the tournament much to the delight of the their fans.
Off spinner Ashwin was declared man of the match for his tight spell which helped in tying down the Bangladesh batsmen. While talking to media after the match Ashwin said that it was an enthralling contest and he is glad that India got over the line against all odds.
“It was a big rollercoaster game, but I think for a team to go all the way in such a game is very, very important,” the off-spinner said
Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said that he is disappointed that the team lost their way after dominating the entire match but he appreciated the way his bowlers bowled.
“I think (our) bowlers have done a great job. We were on top till the last three balls,” a disappointed Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza said.
The win for India meant that they are still in the race for semifinals and the equation is now simple for them because if they beat Australia in their final match they will easily go through to the knockout stage of the tournament.
