The toss is a vital and traditional part of cricket but in the future we may not see the toss taking place because of changing dynamics of cricket.
The England Cricket Board (ECB) is considering the proposal of removing the toss from the frame in division two county championship from the year 2016. The plan will be discussed on Thursday after its was recommended by the cricket committee (via BBC sport).
The conditions of pitches has been under scrutiny from the past few years as home teams are seen to prepare such tracks that will suit their bowlers and consequently dictate the outcome of the match. In order to counter this, the ECB is likely to scrap the toss only in division two matches. From now onwards the visiting team will decide whether they will bat or bowl and if the pitch condition is uncertain the traditional toss will take place.
