Vaughan considers the points system nonsense
Former England cricketer and captain Michael Vaughn has strongly criticized the idea to introduce points system in cricket. The former right handed batsman considers this idea nonsense and will only complicate things further.
“It’s an over-complication that is not needed,” said Vaughan according to BBC.
But Vaughan added: “I think it is nonsense. Sometimes too many brains around the room complicate it.
“What you are going to have is 45 players on a podium at the end of the series.”
According to this points system team will be awarded points for every match with an overall winner being decided at the end of tour. This summer the English team will host Sri Lanka and Pakistan and they are currently under negotiations with the respective boards to agree to this system before they move ahead with this system. This system has been used in the Ashes by the English women team since 2013.
