Virat Kohli is a prolific run scorer for India and last night he proved it once again that he is one of the best batsmen going around and too many the greatest batsman of this era.
Chasing a tricky target of 160 runs, India were in a spot of bother as the run rate was climbing high but Virat Kohli’s calm demeanor ensured that India marched to a convincing win in a virtual quarterfinal for a place in the final four at Mohali.
Virat got emotional as Dhoni smacked a four of the first ball of last over to hand India a famous win much to the delight of a vocal Mohali crowd.
“That performance certainly has to be in my top three but probably it is top right now because I’m a bit emotional,” said Kohli
“A lot was riding on us playing at home and with the crowd you want to give them as much entertainment as possible.”
Superman Virat Kohli
The India batsman averages a staggering 228.5 during run chases at World T20 matches while average in T20I matches India has won is 122.83. These numbers are just mesmerizing and not many batsmen can achieve such standards especially when you are chasing down totals but that is probably whey he is on the top of the pile and it won’t be unfair to call him the superman of run chases.
Skipper MS Dhoni also praised Virat’s innings under such pressure and termed it as an incredible one.
“I think it was an incredible innings,”, MS Dhoni said.
India play the all important semifinal against a spirited West Indies side on 31st of March at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
