The iconic All Stars match between Warne’s Warriors and Sachin’s Blasters was played at the Minute Maid Park in Houston today.
The Warne’s Warriors were put into bat by the Blasters but that proved to be a disastrous decision as the Warriors piled on the runs and reached am massive 262 runs in 20 overs. A blistering and truly spectacular innings from Sangakkara stole the show as the Lankan legend scored 70 off 30 balls with the help of 6 fours and 6 sixes. He was equally supported by Kallis and Ponting as they scored 45 and 41 runs respectively.
Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar who bowled a fierce spell the other day struggled to bring out as his best and was spanked for 48 runs off his four without taking a wicket. Lance Klusener was the pick of the bowlers for the Blasters as he took 2 wickets for 45 runs.
Chasing such a big target the Blasters were never really in the game because they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and finished at 205/8 in the full quota of 20 overs. Shaun Pollock stroked a brilliant and quick fire half century as he scored 55 off 22 balls including 7 massive sixes.
Saqlain Mushtaq stole the show with his bowling as he went for just 12 runs in his 3 overs and also picked up the wickets of the great Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardene.
The match saw 38 sixes being hit and definitely entertained the crowd to the fullest.
The Warriors won by 57 runs and took an unassailable lead in the series with the final match to be played on the 14th of November at Los Angeles.
