Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has said that India are clear favorites to win the Asia Cup and the the all important clash against Pakistan on the 27th of February. Wasim, who is in Bangladesh to do commentary, is looking forward to the tournament and the the mega clash of arch rivals India and Pakistan.
While talking to Times of India in an interview Wasim also appreciated the decision of Asian Cricket Council to change the format of Asia Cup especially considering the fact the T20 World Cup is around the corner.
The T20 format has become a batsman dominated game and Wasim felt that the lack of reverse swing from the bowlers is a sorry sight because this has been a art which was not preserved by the bowlers. He felt that the bowlers should bring this art of reverse sewing back into their bowling and the whole team should work on it during the match as it is a combined effort to work on the ball and prepare it for the bowler.
He also appreciated the way Zaheer Khan used to bowl as he created the balance which was required at this level. He added that Zaheer tried various different things while bowling and the current Indian bowlers can learn a thing or two from him.
Wasim also narrated that when he was at Lancashire, playing county cricket, he used to bowl for hours and hours practicing and fine tuning his ability to bowl reverse swing and this helped him become such a top clash bowler.
