Youngest double century maker
Pakistan’s batting great Javed Miandad became the youngest batsman to score a test double century as he achieved this feat today in 1976. He was aged just 19 years and 141 days at that point in time.
Miandad stroked this amazing double ton in a match played at the national stadium in Karachi against New Zealand. He scored 206 runs with the help of 29 fours and two sixes in a knock that lasted 410 mins. This innings from Javed Miandad came in just his third test match and was a glimpse of his brilliant career that he had in front oh him.
Interestingly this is the same test match where Majid khan, Pakistan’s opener, scored a century before lunch off just 74 balls. Miandad’s double helped Pakistan post a massive 565 runs but the match ended in a draw but Pakistan won the series 2-0.
Other players have also scored centuries at a young age and the top five in that list makes a very interesting reading.
1- Javed Miandad 19 years 141 days
2- George Headley 20 Years 308 days
3- Vinod Kambli 21 years 32 days
4-Gary Sobers 21 years 213 days
5- Graeme Smith 21 years 259 days
