Zaheer Abbas hails CM Punjab’s efforts for promotion of cricket
LAHORE: Pakistan’s former captain and the current ICC President, Zaheer Abbas has hailed the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif for establishing new cricket grounds in the province.
Zaheer Abbas, who is also known as Asian Bradman, said during a meeting with Shahbaz Shareef on Saturday, “Steps taken by Shahbaz Sharif for the establishment of cricket grounds are commendable and with this imitative, new cricket talent will come forward.”
The ICC President also assured that he will fully cooperate with the Punjab government for the promotion of cricket.
The Chief Minister Punjab expressed his thoughts, “Cricket is the most popular game in the country which has immense talent of cricket. There is a dire need of coordinated steps to polish this talent so that Pakistan could again achieve a prominent place in the cricket world.”
Shahbaz Sharif revealed his plan for the development of cricket, according to him, they are already making efforts to promote it, “Initially, the work has been started on eight cricket grounds whereas more cricket grounds will be established in every district under a phased programme and this step will help in improving cricket as well as hunting fresh talent.”
He further said, “Pragmatic steps should be continued for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and Punjab government is ready to extend all-out cooperation in this regard.”
Shahbaz Sharif claimed that sports encourage disciple in the society and reduce stress, “Sports promote discipline in the society and ease tension. A game should be treated as a game and sportsmanship is the real spirit behind all games including cricket.”
