Zaheer Abbas willing to head Pakistan Cricket Board
Pakistan’s former batting legend and famously known as the Asian Bardman Zaheer Abbas has said that he is willing to serve as the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board if needed.
While talking to media during a function of Pakistan Sports Board Zaheer Abbas made his intentions clear by stating that he is willing to head the board alongside the job as President of ICC.
Pakistan cricket has been in a turmoil after the disastrous loss in Asia Cup and World T20 and the board is under criticism for not appointing the right people in the right place. Although Shaharyar Khan has refused to resign from his post of chairmanship but this statement will build some sort of pressure on the current chairman. Zaheer Abbas also appreciated the step to make Inzamam as head of selection committee.
“I am always available for Pakistan in any capacity. My term as ICC President ends this year but even while I have the ICC post I can also head the Board if required,” he said according to Press Trust of India.
“At the moment no one has approached me for any position in the Board but yes if I am approached and invited to head the PCB I will not back down,” he said.
“Inzamam should do a good job but at the same time we need the right people in other positions as well including the most important post of head coach,” he said.
“We have to strengthen our domestic structure and also clearly designate job descriptions so that there is no confusion or meddling in other person’s domain,” he added.
