Zaka blames Shahryar Khan for current turmoil in cricket
Lahore: Former chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf says the existing system has completely ruined Pakistan cricket.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is requested to dissolve the existing management working under Shahryar Khan and save cricket from total destruction. While talking to the media he held Najam Sethi responsible for destroying Pakistan cricket as he is the one who handles most of PCB’s issues as chairman executive committee and said that Shahryar Khan is just a ‘signing machine’ who doesn’t dare to confront any of the suggestions put forward by Najam Sethi.
Zaka Ashraf revealed that on two occasions Shahryar Khan tried to restrict the then chief selector Moin Khan’s role but failed to do so as he was a close friend of Najam Sethi.
It was only when casino pictures of Moin Khan became public on social media that no one could save him. While criticizing the PCB think tank for not placing any cricketer on the PCB board of governors, he said during my tenure Javed Miandad and Intikhab Alam were the ones handling cricket affairs whereas today we don’t find any cricketer holding an important position in PCB.
Regarding Shahid Afridi’s performance he said if Afridi wants to play then PCB should send him to the National Cricket Academy to pass through a revival course to overcome his weaknesses. Giving his advice he said in my tenure Shahid Afridi went through a two months refresher course to the NCA to improve his cricket and we saw a marked improvement in him. I would advise that Umar Akmal, Ahmad Shehzad and other players should also go through the same process and in case they don’t improve they must be asked to quit.
