Zidane proud of his side despite missing out on title
Real Madrid manager Zidane has hailed the efforts of his players after Barca were crowned champions of La Liga on Saturday. Zidane said after the match that the season was a difficult one but hats off to his players for their never say never approach right till the end which is a pleasing sight. After being sworn in as the Real Madrid manager mid season Zidane won 53 out of the 60 points during his first 20 games as manager which is an achievement no other manger has been able to achieve at Real Madrid.
“I’m happy and proud of what we have done,” the manager said. “We had difficulties but we never lowered our arms, we fought to the end. That was the message to the squad.” said Zidane according to espnfc.com
“We have to rest and I’m very proud of everyone in this team. After 38 games we can’t change that Barca are champions. They deserve La Liga, but to my players, chapeau [respect].”
The manger added that now their focus is on winning the UEFA Champions League and they will utilize the time they have in between to optimum level and prepare in a concentrated fashion.
“We’re fortunate to have the Champions League final and we need to rest and prepare well for it,” he said. “We’re a little disappointed after the effort we made. Now we think only of Milan. The plan is to rest first and then work. We have time.
“The final is 50-50 and that won’t change. The important thing is to have a bit of rest and not think of football for a few days. Then we’ll look forward to properly prepare for the game.”
