Peshawar is all set to host the 33rd edition of the National Games from November 10, ARY Sports reported.
The city of flowers will stage the mega-event after a gap of almost nine years. Over 10,000 athletes and team staff have reached Peshawar with a hope for a successful run.
Karachi will host the Sailing championship, Shooting will be held in Jhelum, Islamabad will conduct swimming and rowing competitions respectively.
Along with four provinces Islamabad, Gilgit/Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, PAF, Railway, Pakistan Police, HEC, Pak Army and WAPDA will participate in the event.
Athletes from across the country will participate in 32 games which are divided into different categories. The games include Athletics, Boxing, Hockey, Karate, Football, Tug of War, volleyball, Wrestling, Archery, Baseball, Softball, Table Tennis, Wushu, Gymnastic, Rugby, Judo, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Badminton and Handball.
The president of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), Arif Hasan, is confident that this edition will be bigger and better. “The preparations are done and we are really looking forward to making this event successful,” he said.
Hasan pledged to provide the best possible facilities to the athletes to maintain their confidence. “We have tried our level best to facilitate players with best facilities in all cities which are hosting this event,” he maintained.
The head of POA also thanked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government for their all-out support in preparing for the event. “I am happy to see KP’s government with us throughout so far. I hope they continue supporting us ahead,” he concluded.
