The Pakistan’s women’s team trounced Bangladesh in their third group stage match of the women’s world T20 in India. Unlike the men’s team, which frequently fails to chase down totals, the women’s team ensured that they chased down a tricky total of 114 runs in a resounding fashion which hence ensured that the team stay in contention for the semifinal spot.
Player of the match Sidra Amin played a match winning knock of 53 runs to guider her team home along with Bismah Maroof who scored 43 runs. While talking to media after the match, alongside captain Sana Mir, Sidra said that the captain backed here which is why she was able to play such a knock under pressure.
“My captain has backed me, she showed faith in me,”
Captain Sana Mir was adamant that they play every game on it’s merit and play as a team and the results are there for everyone to see. She added that a lot of critics might have written them off but they have proved once again team which is strong on paper can be toppled.
Pakistani bowlers have bowled really well during the tournament and have restricted team to modest totals which is precisely the reason why the captain was all praise for her bowlers.
“We are not afraid of any team,” Mir declared authoritatively. “We have shown how much we have improved as a side. Cricket is played out on the field and not on paper. So we don’t believe they are favourites. The way we have played as a team in this tournament, I would say we have an equal chance. A lot of people would have written us off, but it doesn’t matter who we are playing. That is the positive attitude we will take into the next game.”
“Our bowling has been outstanding throughout the tournament, credit to Anam Amin and Asmavia Iqbal,” Mir said
