Professor Mohammad Hafeez played another fine knock to guide Pakistan home against England in the first ODI match at Abu Dhabi.
Pakistan were chasing a relatively modest total of 217 runs but were off to a poor start as they were reeling at 41/3 and at this point they needed someone to provide a solid innings in the middle overs. Hafeez provided just that as he made it look extremely easy and milked the bowlers all over the park.
On a pitch that was not easy to bat as it was on the slower side and the ball holding up Hafeez looked in control all throughout their innings. He reached his fifty of 59 balls and the bigger milestone off 127 balls with the help of 10 fours and a glorious six. He remained not out on 102 and took Pakistan home and made sure they were no jitters towards the end of run chase.
Hafeez has always found conditions in UAE to his advantage as he stroked his 4th century in the desert and 11th in total for Pakistan. This was Hafeez’s first century against England in his entire career which made the milestone ever so special.
