A huge blow for Qalandars as their star-batsman AB de Villiers has been ruled out ahead of Pakistan Super League Pakistan leg with a back injury and will return home.
The franchise official on Monday confirmed the unavailability of South African batting maestro in the league,
“It’s disappointing news for us and AB’s fans that he will not be able to make it for Pakistan’s leg of PSL,” the manager of Lahore Qalandars, told. However, his replacement has not been announced yet.
“I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in front of the passionate Pakistani cricket fans,” said De Villiers, “I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks and, unfortunately, that rules me out of the games in Karachi.
“I hope to be a part of the HBL PSL next year and very much hope to play my part in the return of international cricket to the country. I am backing Lahore Qalandars to go all the way and win the trophy this year.”
De Villiers have played a key role in Qalandars’ squad so far in the tournament. He played a 47-run not out inning to lead Lahore Qalandars to a convincing eight wickets victory over Quetta Gladiators in the 17th match of PSL season four at Sharjah Stadium.
Pakistan was to host eight PSL 4 matches, five in Karachi and three in Lahore, which has now been completely shifted to Karachi.
