Pakistan’s new pace sensation, Mohammad Abbas will miss the opening Test of the three-match series against South Africa due to a shoulder injury.

Abbas suffered a shoulder injury ahead of the third Test and missed the game against New Zealand in the UAE, which the hosts lost by 123 runs and the Kiwis won the series by 2-1.

The left-arm fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, who was dropped from the New Zealand series due his lack of form, is likely to replace his right-arm counterpart in the Boxing Day Test.

On the other hand, the returning left-handed opening batsman, Fakhar Zaman will fill the vacant opening spot by the retiring veteran all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez.

Pakistan started off their South Africa tour with a win in the warm-up match, moreover, their batsmen showed form with Azhar Ali and Babar Azam scoring centuries in the first inning, while Imam Ul Haq and Haris Sohail scoring fifties in the second inning to get their team home.

Amir also put up an impressive show with the ball in the second inning of the game, taking three wickets for 35 runs.
