Abid Ali shines for Pakistan A, while Lyon takes five-for

The right-handed batsman, Abid Ali looked solid for Pakistan A with 83 runs against his name as they scored 247/6 at the end of first day’s play of a four-day practice game against Australia played in Dubai.

Asad Shafiq, captain of Pakistan A, won the toss and elected to bat first. Nathan Lyon removed Shan Masood on the total of 24 runs.

The other opener Sami Aslam had an impressive partnership of 82 runs, before Aslam fell to the right-arm offie after on an individual score of 51.

Skipper Asad Shafiq, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usman Salahuddin could only score 14, 4 and 1 run respectively.

Saad Ali showed glimpses of his capabilities during his 36-run inning.

Abid Ali and Mohammad Rizwan are still at the crease with individual scores of 83 and 13 respectively.

Nathan Lyon hunted Shan Masood, Sami Aslam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Usman Salahuddin and Saad Ali to complete his five-for on the first day of the practice game.

Jonathan Holland was the other bowler who dismissed Shafiq.

Pakistan will lock horns against Australia in the first Test of the two-match series from October 7.
