Afridi and Sammy criticize English T20 Blast format

London: Hampshire’s foreigner players Shahid Afridi and Darren Sammy have criticized English T20 format and have supported Jos Buttler’s criticism of making it difficult for specialist players to maintain their form and remain focused over the course of an elongated tournament.

Presently T20 Blast matches are played on every weekend, the rest of the days are meant for playing first-class matches.

Sammy said “It’s Twenty20, you’ve got to be playing it fast.” meanwhile Afridi added that “ I have already spoken to a few of the officials, that we should organize it and finish it in a month because it makes it difficult for specialist cricketers to stay focused and maintain their form after lengthy gaps between matches.”
