The 19-years-old Shaheen Shah Afridi defended 23 runs under-pressure to steer Pakistan clinch three-match T20i series 2-0 against Australia at the Dubai InternationalStadium on Friday.
It were Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Coulter-Nile in full form at the crease having hit two sixes in last two overs to put Pakistan under immense pressure.
But it was Shaheen who got the batsmen caught in last over to snatch a victory from the jaws of Australia.
Earlier, Pakistan after winning the toss decided to bat first on a pitch which did not offer much to the batsmen.
The openers Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam took the start for Pakistan but were failed to put many runs on the scoreboard together.
Pakistan lost Fakhar on 29 runs which built pressure on the green caps for a while but Hafeez and Babar carried the innings well for Pakistan.
Hafeez departed after scoring 40 runs and Babar Azam made 45 runs before falling to D’ Arcy Short on a simple catch.
Nathan Coulter-Nile remained on top with the bowl for Australia bagging three wickets conceding 18 runs in three overs.
In reply, Australia lost an early wicket on just 11 runs when D’Arcy Short got run-out unluckily.
Therefater, their wickets started falling after regular intervals as only Maxwell played a prominent knock of 52 runs.
Coulter-Nile who made 27 runs supported Maxwell well in the end, to make this match a nail-biter.
The left-arm spinner, Imad Wasim once again proved himself after finishing with great figures of 1-8 in four overs.
Shadab Khan also took two wickets at crucial moments to release pressure from his team.
Imad who is making a comeback after a gap of almost one year bagged two back to back man-of-the-match award.
