Ahmed Shehzad turns 24


Pakistan’s talented opener Ahmed Shehzad has been a regular part of the Pakistan side in the past couple of years and today this young player form Lahore is celebrating his 24th birthday.

Ahmed was termed as Pakistan’s next big thing when he arrived on the international stage but he has not been able to turn that into something substantial at the top of the order for Pakistan.

Lets look at some of the facts that you may not know about the recently married opener.

5) Guiding his team home in test matches

Ahmed Shehzad currently holds the rear feet of not losing a test match whenever he scores a hundred in an innings. Pakistan won all three matches against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka when Ahmed scored a century.

4) Two under-19 World Cups

The opener has featured in two under-19 world cups for Pakistan. His first appearance was in 2008 and then again in 2010 he took part in this auspicious tournament which made him one of the very few players who got the opportunity to take part in this event twice.

3) Hundreds in all three formats

Ahmed Shehzad is the only player from Pakistan who has a hundred in all three formats of the game. He currently has 6 hundreds in ODIs, 3 tons in test matches and a solitary hundred in T20s.

2) Lucky wickets

Ahmed Shehzad has bowled very few balls in ODI cricket but he did account for two wickets and interestingly both were kiwi players including Tom Latham and Martin Guptill.

1) First class debut

Ahmed Shehzad made his first class debut just couple of months after turning 15. He made his debut for local Lahore side “Lahore Shalimar”
