Lahore: The new entry in the Pakistan senior team, Ahsan Ali is excited to bat alongside Pakistan T20I captain Babar Azam in the upcoming three-match T20 series against Bangladesh starting from January 24 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
While interacting with reporters on the sidelines of the training camp in Lahore, Ahsan thinks it is a proud moment for him as there will be a lot to experience when batting in the middle with Number one T20 batsman.
“Babar Azam is a great batsman and it’s a proud moment to open alongside him. There will be a lot to learn from him because now he is an experienced player and the captain of the national T20 team,” Ahsan said.
The 25-year-old does not want to throw this opportunity and is keen to perform in the debut match and cement his place for a long period of time in the team.
“The aim is not to throw my place in the team, If I get a chance, I will try to play well and make my spot permanent in the Pakistan squad and carry on till the T20 World Cup in Australia,” He added.
The right-handed batsman reveals that he couldn’t sleep a day before the announcement of the squad and also didn’t concentrate at the practice session too.
“I couldn’t sleep the whole night, We had a practice session too and the only thing in my mind was the squad announcement. The excitement level went to its peak after I got to know my name in the 15-member squad.
The young player feels no pressure after playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL). “There is no such pressure as I have played PSL matches which are somehow equivalent to international cricket,” he maintained.
Ahsan urged people to come and watch Pakistan play against Bangladesh, who is now according to him have improved massively and the competition will be competitive in the presence of captain Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal.
