Pakistan’s chief selector, Inzamam Ul Haq said that the Magician, Saeed Ajmal may get a call for national duty keeping his consistent performance in the domestic circuit in view.
“Ajmal has done well in the National T20 Cup. If he continues his form in domestic cricket and the need arises he may get the chance to represent the country again,” Inzamam said while talking to a private TV channel.
“He is a world-class player and it will be good for Pakistan cricket if he comes back into the [national] side,” the chief selector added.
Inzamam, however, made it clear that the selectors are noticing players’ performance with respect to the need of the national team.
“We are now following the policy of picking players according to team requirements. And if Ajmal is required [in our scheme of things] at anytime he will be selected for national duty,” he said.
He also accepted the fact that selectors are looking for a quality off-spinner and unable to find one so far. Saeed Ajmal has proved his worth a number of times in the past.
Saeed Ajmal played his last game with the star on his chest in April, 2015 against Bangladesh in a T20 international. He has always been an integral part of Pakistan’s line up in all three formats of the game before getting ban for having an illegal bowling action.
