KARACHI: Pakistan’s ex-pacer Shoaib Akhtar appreciated Zimbabwe for playing fearless cricket against Pakistan as they notched a stunning 19-runs victory over them in the second T20I.
Sharing his thoughts on a surprising second T20I result on his YouTube channel, Akhtar said it was an embarrassing moment for Pakistan’s cricket. “They played poorly and it was an embarrassment for us to lose to Zimbabwe. I knew Pakistan could make a mess on this pitch and they exactly did it after missing it nearly in the first contest,” he said.
“Credit goes to Zimbabwe, the way they played fearless cricket against Pakistan. I wish them the best of luck for the next match, hope they give tough time to Pakistan,” he added.
Meanwhile, Akhtar blamed Pakistani batters for not taking any responsibility. “Pitches in Zimbabwe have always been tough for batters. You can’t play openly here and if you know that then why you go for big shots?” he questioned.
“It was run-a-ball just and it could have been achieved easily had Pakistani batters stayed at the crease with taking singles and doubles,” he opined.
“Pakistan needs to work on their middle-order. If they are playing Danish Aziz and Asif Ali or any other player then their roles must be defined. Otherwise, such performances will repeat,” he concluded.
