The 19-year-old Akif Javed has aimed to bowl the fastest delivery and break the record of former pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
The left-arm-pace bowler while sharing his journey in the video released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their official Youtube channel said that he has bowled around 145 kph but now focus is to bowl more faster.
“I want to become the fastest bowler like Shoaib Akhtar. My fastest delivery is 145 but my aim is to bowl the fastest bowl in the history of cricket,”
Akif had the toughest of the times when he had to work along with his father at a local shop and also had to play cricket because of the love for fast bowling.
“Since childhood, I love playing cricket and used to play tape ball in my village. I worked with my father in a shop and at the same time had to focus on my cricket too but while working most of the time I couldn’t concentrate on my work and the only thing in my mind was cricket,” He added.
He felt prouder when he claimed the wicket of former captain Mohammad Hafeez in the recently concluded National T20 Cup in Faislabad.
Hailed from Karak district, Akif tries to copy Pakistan premium left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir and feels great while practicing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) along with expert coaches.
“My favorite bowler is Mohammad Amir and I also try to copy him and focus on the swing just like him. When I gave the trials, I bowled around 146 kph then I came to NCA and coaches have worked hard with me,”
Akif is eager to perform well at the upcoming U19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa just like he performed at the ACC Emerging Asia Cup.
