Pakistan announced their squad for the five-match ODI series against Australia and the selectors have overlooked their best performer with the bat in domestic cricket, Kamran Akmal.
He scored 361 runs in the domestic one day games with the help of two centuries and a half-century. Whereas, in 9 four-day games, he has scored 1,035 runs at an average of nearly 80 and has struck five tons and three 50s.
The wicketkeeper batsman talked to ARY News and said that he is disappointed, but, he will keep performing his part that is to give his best performances.
“Yes definitely, I am disappointed,” said Kamran. “Selectors and team management can better tell you the reason.”
“I will keep doing my part that is to perform and maintain my fitness, rest depends on the plans of the team management,” he added.
Kamran Akmal tried to stay positive and believed that the management must have picked the squad that they deemed best for the series against Australia.
“Team management has called the players that they thought are best for the playing conditions in Australia,” he told.
Mohsin Hasan Khan also talked to ARY News on the issue and expressed his disappointment with the national selection committee.
“I am disappointed even with the selected Test team as we do not have a regular opener in the Test squad, which is an integral part of Test teams,” he said.
Former test cricketer went on to say that selection has been done on the basis of personal likes and dislikes and the country is the ultimate victim of that.
“We have Karman Akmal and some other players in the domestic circuit that are extremely talented and experienced.
“But, the team is being selected on the grounds of favouritism, it will ultimately cost the country,” he further said.
He also said that the selection committee has ignored Junaid Khan which is unjust. According to the former coach and head of selection committee, the selection could have been much better.
The ODI series between Pakistan and Australia will commence from January 13 in Brisbane.
