Pakistan head coach, Mickey Arthur made it clear for Umar Akmal that he has to work hard on his fitness if he wants to make a comeback in the national team.
Arthur claimed that it is only Umar Akmal himself who can help him, no one can do anything for a player who has failed to pass a fitness test for seven times.
“If someone fails seven fitness tests, we cannot do much about it,” said Arthur while talking to media at National Cricket Academy (NCA).
“Ball is in Umar [Akmal]’s court. He knows what he needs to do to come back to the national team,” he added.
Arthur put it straight for Umar Akmal that fitness standards will not be compromised for anyone.
“Everyone should know we’ve got enough to move forward without any player who is not meeting our standards,” he further stated.
However, the coach said about Ahmed Shehzad that he has no problem with his attitude, it is only his performance which is a point of concern for them.
“To be honest, we don’t have any problem with Ahmad Shahzad,” he said. “Yes he did not get as many runs as we would’ve liked, but his attitude is being really impressive in the training and everywhere else.”
