Palwasha, Murad in trouble for criticizing Mahoor’s Olympics qualification

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF)’s Executive Committee took action against national badminton champions Murad Ali and Palwasha Bashir for criticizing Mahoor Shahzad’s Tokyo Olympics 2021 qualification.

According to the details, PBF’s Executive Committee met on Tuesday to discuss multiple matters. Mahoor’s Olympics qualification was also one of the discussions and the criticism related to it by fellow badminton players.

During the meeting, it was decided to ban Murad and refer Palwasha’s case to the disciplinary panel following their criticism on PBF’s process to confirm Mahoor’s Tokyo Olympics particpation. Now, Murad will not be able to take part in any national or international badminton event for the next two years. Whilst, Palwasha’s future will depend on her appearance before the disciplinary panel to explain her stance.

Meanwhile, the executive committee congratulated Mahoor for her achievement and declared her the current best badminton player in the country. “Mahoor is a talented player and we are proud of her. Hoping to see her winning medal for Pakistan,” the executive members said in a statement.
