WI women clinch T20I series 2-0 against Pakistan

West Indies defeated Pakistan after an exciting super over by 17 runs to win the three matches T20I series 2-0 at Southend Club on Friday.

The tourists scored 18 runs in an over to put Pakistani batters under immense pressure. Pakistan came into bat and lost both the wickets scoring just a run.

Earlier, Nashra Sandhu fought well to defend 13 runs for Pakistan in the last over but unfortunately, the match ended in a tie.

West Indian players were impressive while chasing 133 runs in the second match.

While batting first, Aliya Riaz and Nida Dar did the job for Pakistan, in the end, putting up a partnership of 42 runs to take their team to 132 in stipulated 20 overs.

Aliya with the help of three boundaries smashed 23 runs while Nida blasted her way to scoring 25 runs.

Pakistan started off their inning with an opening pair of Omaima Sohail and Javeria Khan. They had a shaky start as they lost an early wicket on just two runs but later on, captain Bismah and Javeria rescued Pakistan and took them from 2-1 to 61 runs.

Bismah scored 31 runs including two boundaries while Javeria contributed 26 to team’s total. Iram Javed 18 off 17 balls.

Dottin was the pick of the bowlers for the tourists taking two wickets conceding 26 runs. Afy Flecther and Shakera Selman shared a wicket apiece.

In reply, West Indies were off to a good start with a 30-run opening partnership between Kycia Knights and Deandra Dottin. Anum Amin with a sharp spin got the breakthrough with sending off Dottin who scored 22 runs.

Knight further showed courage alongside Shemaine Campbelle putting up a solid 54 runs partnership on the second wicket.

Knight scored 32 runs before getting run out while Campbelle made 41 runs.

Anum Amin took two wickets conceding 24 runs while Sana Mir, Aiman Anwar and Nashra Sandhu bagged one wicket each.

Both teams will play third and last T20I match on Sunday.
