Karachi: Pakistan’s all 4 players qualify in the individual event knock-out stage of the IBSF (International Billiard and Snooker Federation) World 6-Red snooker Championship. Both the national teams will compete on Thursday for the team events pre-quarter final.
At the end of the individual events league competition championship which is being played in the city of Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt the second seeds from respective groups, Pakistan’s 4 cueists and 96 players have reached the knock-out stage. In group-B, national champion Babar Masih in his fourth and final league match against India’s Dharminder Lilly despite losing after a tough fight 3-4 managed to succeed in the next stage. He won 2 out of 4 matches to qualify for the knock-out stage on better frames.
In group-B, Afghanistan’s Muhammad Rais Senzahi gripped national #2, Shahzad with 4-2 and Sohail Shahzad easily took over India’s Bharat Sisodiya by 4-0 to reach the knock-out stage. He won 2 matches out of 3 from his group and got a walk-over in one. In group-I, Asjad Iqbal lost to Egypt’s Muhammad Hamouda in the third match by 4-2 but made a comeback to reach his next level by defeating Wale’s Keith Thomas in the fourth and final match by 4-1. Former national champion Muhammad Bilal had already won 2 matches out of 3 in group-X to reach the final round. In the 64 players knock-out stage to be played on Wednesday, Sohail Shahzad will be playing against Hong Kong’s Man Hoi Leong.
Babar Masih is set to play against UAE’s Muhammad Shahab, Muhammad Bilal to face Egypt’s Abdul Muneem, Asjad Iqbal will be competing against another Egyptian cueist Muhammad Ehsaam. On the other end among the 32 teams knock-out stage event, group-C’s champion Pakistan-1 will compete with the winner of Egypt-4 and Egypt-12. Pakistan-2 team at second position in group-B will be facing Hong Kong-3.
