Thar: Boxer Amir Khan visited the drought affected areas of Thar in order to oversee the work done by the Amir Khan Foundation for the betterment of the local people.

Amir Khan is currently in Pakistan on a short visit and was accompanied by his wife Faryal Makhdoom and some Army officials. On this occasion Khan was given a warm welcome by the local villagers who were extremely happy to see the world famous boxer amongst them.

The tanks which have been built give clean water to atleast 800 people. Lots of people in Thar would get bitten by snakes in the desert when walking at night to get water and not make it to an hospital in time but now this effort from AK Foundation will go a long way in solving their problems.

Amir Khan thanked the Pakistan Army and especially Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and DG ISPR General Asim Bajwa for their continued help and support.

Earlier, on his previous visit to Pakistan, Khan organized the Superstar Boxing Event which was an effort of Amir Khan Trust to raise funds to provide clean drinking water for the citizens of Thar. All the earnings of the main fight night event went to the Amir Khan Trust which utilized the funds in building water wells in Thar.
