Sindh registered their second win in Pakistan Cup on Saturday against Islamabad by 118 runs. Sindh, once again posted a big total of 336 runs, Islamabad could only score 218 in 39.5 overs in reply.
Sarfraz Ahmed once again won the toss and elected to bat first. Khurram Manzoor and Sami Aslam repeated their impressive performance with the bat. They give Sindh an opening stand of 196 runs. Khurram Manzoor fell after scoring the second consecutive century in the tournament; he scored 123 off 90 deliveries. Whereas, Sami Aslam made 75 off 86 balls before he lost his wicket at a total of 219.
Khalid Latif utilized the platform laid by the openers, he scored 62 runs and remained not out in the innings. On the other hand, rest of the batters contributed in bits and pieces. Mohammad Irfan was the best bowler for Misbah and Co. as he took 2 wickets for 45 runs in his 10 overs.
When Islamabad came out to chase this huge total, they found red hot Mohammad Amir sprinting in to bowl and destroying their batting line. The aggressive left-arm pacer removed 4 Islamabad batsmen on just 55 runs, which completely put the opponents on backfoot.
It was once again Misbah Ul Haq doing the repair work. He was accompanied by the talented allrounder, Hammad Azam. The pair contributed 113 runs together before Misbah lost his wicket to Bilal Asif after scoring 73 runs on 59 balls.
After Mohammad Amir, it was Bilal Asif that rocked Islamabad batting, he took four wickets in his 10 overs, leaking just 39 runs. Except Misbah Ul Haq and Hammad Azam, none of Islamabad batsman could score significantly. Mohammad Amir ended the game by cracking Mohammad Abbas’ stumps.
Mohammad Amir took the five-for in the contest for just 36 runs in 7.5 overs for which he was awarded the Man of the Match. Misbah remained the best batsman for Islamabad with 73 runs.
