An Eye Opener: ODI Ranking reveals “Green Shirts Downfall”


ICC’s  ODI Ranking reveals  green shirts downfall story. The recent “Dubai’s Top 20 batsman list” is out and green shirts are missing. Top 50 includes only 3 names, Sri Lankan star Sangakara placed  as number 2 makes his last entry, bowler Saeed Ajmal retains  8th position.

Pakistan team ranks number 8, S. Africa grabs 3rd position by outplaying New Zealand. ICC issues One Day players ranking which is a matter of concern for Pakistan. Players who  imitated styles and fashion of neighboring country’s superstars were no match to their rivals in the field.

Not a single Pakistani falls in the Top 20 list, the highest ranking is M.Hafeez at 27 and Ahmed Shehzad at 29. We have a 3rd Pakistani Azhar Ali(Capt) at 41 amongst the Top 50 batsman list.

Virat Kohli climbs to 4th position, AB de Villiers still on top, Sangakara is at 2nd position this year but has announced his retirement.

Martin Guptill of New Zealand moves  4 steps ahead to number 15. Amongst the bowlers Mitchell  Starc of Australia stays on top. S.Africa’s spinner Imran Tahir’s performance against New Zealand brought him to 2nd position. Saeed Ajmal retains his 8th position based on his previous excellent performance despite being dropped out of the team for several months due to ban imposed on his bowling action.

Although Hafeez is on 16th position but due to illegal action he is banned from bowling for a year, M. Irfan is on 17th position.

S.Africa has grabbed  3rd position after defeating New Zealand 2-1 in team ranking, pushing the Kiwis to number 4. Australia Tops while India is on 2nd position. Pakistan is at 8th position after attaining 90 points trailing Bangladesh at 96 points.
