Legendary Aussie fast bowler Glenn McGrath has hailed Jimmy Anderson for his achievements and considers him as a quality fast bowler. He added that if Jimmy can stay fit he can easily surpass his tally of 563 test wickets in test matches.
“That’s entirely up to him; if he stays on the park, then he can do that quite easily – and knock me off. And good luck to him,” McGrath was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
“He’s a quality bowler, there’s no doubt about that. When he’s firing and the ball’s swinging, he’s as tough (to face) as any bowler going around,” McGrath said.
“He’s played 115 Tests now, which for a fast bowler to play over 100 is exceptional. He’s still bowling well, and he’s still taking wickets.”
Anderson, who is aged 33, currently has 451 wickets in 115 test matches at an average of 28.33 and is closing in on McGrath’s record and provided he can carry his form and stay fit along the way he is most likely to surpass McGrath’s 563 wickets tally.
