Former Zimbabwe’s star batsman, Andy Flower is being assigned the task by the International Cricket Council (ICC) of selecting the best possible World XI to tour Pakistan in September.
Pakistan is deprived of international cricket since Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore in 2009. Since then the country has only hosted Zimbabwe in 2015 for a limited-overs series.
“The ICC handed over responsibility to Andy Flower to pick the 15 best players for the World XI squad. The ICC will make a final decision on the selection of the squad,” a PCB official told Dawn News.
As per details, the former England coach is likely to tour with the World XI as the team manager, however, the ICC is yet to finalize it.
It has also been learned that board officials will meet Punjab government next week to discuss security arrangements and issuance of No Objection Certificate.
PCB is trying hard to bring back international cricket back in the country and this three-match T20 series against the World XI is a stepping stone towards the goal.
