Anti-Corruption Tribunal holds Sharjeel’s preliminary hearing

Sharjeel Khan had his first hearing of Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case in front of Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Anti-Corruption Tribunal on Friday.

The tribunal is composed of Justice Asghar Haider, Lieutenant General Tauqir Zia, Wasim Bari, General Manager Legal Affairs PCB Salman Naseer, the Head of PCB’s Vigilance and Security Department Colonel Mohammad Azam and PCB’s legal adviser Taffazul Rizvi who along with Advocate Haider Ali Khan.

During the hearing at National Cricket Academy Lahore, charges against the left-handed opener were formally read out.

The charges include the breach of Articles 2.1.2; 2.1.3; 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code for Participants 2015.

PCB will submit their initial claim along with the evidence on April 14 and Sharjeel will have to respond to them by May 5.

Khalid Latif also had a hearing on Friday, but he communicated to chairman tribunal early that he cannot appear for the hearing on the given date due to some health issues. The tribunal accepted his application and postponed the hearing till March 31, however, they made it clear that the hearing will not be delayed further.
