LAHORE: The BCCI President, Anurag Thakur is looking to keep the current ICC structure of Big Three, his policy is absolutely against the former BCCI President, who stepped down from the presidency.

Sources told Dawn News that Anurag Thakur is going to take a firm stand for the Big Three model of ICC in the next annual meeting that is scheduled in the last week of June, he has also communicated the other two members of the Big Three, England and Australia about his stance for the Big Three formula.

Whereas, the ICC President, Shashank Manohar has clearly expressed his views during his tenure as the BCCI president about the Big Three formula and he was against it, thus, he will try to revamp the structure and he has the decision making power being the ICC boss.

The formula was proposed by former BCCI President N. Srinivasan, who was later suspended for being allegedly involved in match fixing in Indian Premier League.

PCB was the last board to favor the Big Three structure knowing that it would not be beneficial for Pakistan. Shahryar Khan has again stated that he will take stand against this formula and will look to get it abolished, “A decision to do away with the Big Three formula has already been taken, but how will it be dismantled will be decided in next meeting. Pakistan also wants abolishment of the Big Three formula as we believe that a democratic system should prevail at the ICC.”
