DUBAI: Pakistan’s former cricket head coach Waqar Younus is satisfied by the performance of Pakistan cricket team and said this is all because of the efforts put in by the senior players. It was a good beginning for Mickey Arthur but his real test lies ahead in the Australian tour.
While talking to the media the former fast bowler said “The team has matured in the past five years and the way they made a draw in the England series was something extraordinary,” he further added “the biggest reason behind Pakistan’s success at Test cricket is the result of efforts put in by senior players when needed.”
He said the team is moving in the right direction under Coach Mickey Arthur but it’s a bit early to discuss his performance. Though the start has been good but his real test lies ahead during the New Zealand and Australia series.
Replying to a question Waqar said, despite the popularity of T20s, Test cricket will always play a vital role in the game. However innovations such as the use of pink ball and the day-night Tests will be good source of amusement in pulling the crowd.
Speaking about the performance of Pakistan in Dubai Test he said “the batsmen have done their job it’s for the bowlers now to show their performance.” He admitted that there is a lack of fast bowlers in Pakistan and we haven’t produced many bowlers but he is expecting to see good performance from Yasir Shah and other bowlers during this match.
