One of the top performers from Pakistan against Australia A on Day 1 of a tour match, Asad Shafiq, gets a boost from his 119-runs not-out knock.
“It feels great when you score runs. I think this inning is a good morale booster for me and my team. Such innings get you immense confidence especially before a tough series,” Asad said in a video message from Perth.
Asad believes that his team is in a good position after they posted 336-3 at stumps on Day 1. “We are in a strong position against them. See, when you put runs on the scoreboard, the opponent already gets into pressure. I hope we continue this form on Day 2 and plan accordingly,” he maintained.
The experienced middle-order batsman praised Babar Azam for his all-out support at the crease. “When we were out there, our plan was to settle down and take chances according to the situation. We kept on guiding each other throughout which helped a lot to build the inning for the team,” Asad said.
“Babar, as always, was outstanding. He focused on his natural game and supported me whenever I needed,” he concluded.
It is pertinent to mention here that Asad (119*) and Babar (157*) will resume the inning from 336-3 for Pakistan against Australia A on Day 2 of a tour match at Perth Stadium, Perth.
