Asian Cricket Council has agreed to shift the Asia Cup 2018 from India to the UAE on Pakistan’s reservations on sending their team there.
A meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur which was headed by the ACC President and PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi, where it was decided that the Asia Cup will be hosted by the UAE, whereas the Emerging Asia Cup will be hosted by Pakistan, whereas, India will play their matches in Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board had taken a stance that if India will not send their U-19 squad to play Emerging Asia Cup in Pakistan, then they will not allow their squad to feature the Asia Cup hosted by India.
The Emerging Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in April.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to take place from September 13 to 28. It will feature six teams, five full members Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will automatically qualify, whereas, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Nepal, Singapore and the hosts UAE will fight for the sixth spot.
Moreover, the next meeting of Asian Cricket Council will also take place in Karachi.
